1. I really enjoyed General Conference. I had several favorite talks - the one addressed to parents of teenagers, the one given by Sister Wixom about teaching our children to follow the Savior, and Elder Holland's pat-on-the-back (thank you, Linda!). I also loved hearing President Monson speak as he bore testimony to all of the members of the church worldwide.
2. Jeff cooked our first turkey of the season on Sunday. We had Paul & Linda over & we all agreed that it was the moistest we'd ever had! It was the new Butterball-In-A-Bag and cooks in about 3 hours. Dee-lish!
3. Speaking of bags...we brought our bag of Halloween books down from the boy's room & put them next to the fireplace. They are some of Ian's favorite books, even in the middle of the summer! I love them, too. They remind me how much I love fall!
4. While we're on the topic...I splurged and bought myself a new purse for fall - it's a ruffly, leathery type & quite hip for my 39-yr-old self. I feel like I have a new spring in my step. Did I ever mention that I love to organize a new purse?
5. Two weeks ago we scored a basketball net from our neighbors across the street. They were moving and told us to get it by Monday morning before the new people moved in. Typically, I remembered on Sunday night as we arrived home from a youth fireside. We had no choice but to creep over, in our church clothes, and roll it across the street & up the driveway to our house...in the dark. We were trying to be quiet, which got me laughing because we looked ridiculous and I was sure that the neighbors would think we were stealing it. Sure enough, at the bus stop the next day, 2 of my neighbors mentioned that they saw us taking it. I had to explain the whole mess... so that they didn't think we would take anything out of their yard that we fancied. :)
6. We told the kids that we are going to get a pool table for the basement, and Ian said he couldn't wait to swim down there on the new table.
7. Alec has his last home game of the season this coming Saturday. We are hoping for a WIN - it would be their first all season. Say a prayer for the "freshmen silver" boys!
8. Today I recommitted myself to working-out again regularly and making it a top-priority of each day. I went to "barbell strength" this morning, and I forgot how great it feels to be sore from a good work-out. I even ran a mile after the hour class. Go me!
9. Riley has been sporting her new "Sweeney Todd" hoodie, in preparation for their performances in a few weeks. She is getting really excited and so are we...they have all been working so hard - 6:00 to 10:00 pm all this week - and I can't wait to see show!
10. I got to babysit Alyssa all day yesterday and she is a doll! Leslie had her all dressed up in a corduroy jumper, argyle tights, and pig-tails. I had so much fun pretending she was mine while I shopped up & down the aisles of Kroger. She even napped so I could get some things done. Why is it so much easier when they aren't your own?

#5 just has me in hysterics!!! That is so stinking funny!
I want to see pics of the new ruffly purse & FINISHED BASEMENT for the new pool table!! :)
May I give a whoot for the turkey ! Very good and very moist. They come in a med. size ... about 12 lbs. You cook them from the frozen state to the table in abt. 3 hours. Hats off to Butterball !
Now may I give a whoot whoot to the basement ! Very nice and very multi-tasking ! The pool table does not have a deep end, but this basement has everything else including 3D ... not kidding ! Alec told me on the side that he had been waiting to invite friends over until the basement was finished. Good decision, Alec ... theu will be impressed. All partays will be at the Days.
I cannot spk to the purse or b-ball net.
