{a visit to Santa on the Polar Express}

{a Sunday drive through Hines Park}

Everyone and their mother had the same idea as we did because we waited at least an hour in bumper to bumper traffic just to get into the park. The first few minutes were okay, but after the kid's movie was over they noticed that we weren't moving anymore. They started getting antsy, irritated, and HUNGRY...and then we were saved! There it was, like a candle on a hill - a Little Caesar's Pizza shop sitting directly across the street from our spot in the line of never-ending cars!!
Jeff hopped out of the car. I jumped into the driver's seat. He sprinted across the street. Our car didn't even move an inch while he was gone. It's amazing what a Hot-N-Ready pizza and an order of crazy bread will do for a bunch of siblings sharing the back end of a suburban.
The light display was beautiful and fun for the kids to watch. Our favorite scenes this year were Santa's workshop, the Christmas train, and the elf being blown out of a canon over our car!
We let the boys come up to the front and sit on our laps for a better view. I'm so glad they are both still little enough to sit on our laps. And, more importantly, that they still want to.
