I know that I've been writing a lot about Alec lately, but if I don't write this down now I will forget. He woke up with eyes that were a tad pink & he said that they hurt, so I let him stay home from school. After some drops, they looked (and felt) much better, but he was my excuse today to stay home and finish the Christmas decorations. And, quite frankly, I love his company.
We watched Home Alone 3 together while I folded laundry. We ate lunch together - he ate the lunch I packed for him this morning out of his lunch box. We laughed at the note that I'd left for him in his lunch box - I do this everyday, just for him, because he likes it. Once when I didn't write a little note, he asked me why I had forgotten and that began my "Lunch box notes to Alec". This morning I wrote, "Alec, Don't burp at lunch! And eat your grapes. Love, Mom". He thought that was hilarious.
After lunch he wrote his thank-you notes from his birthday. They were very sweet. He told Grammy & Papa that he would try to wear his Michigan sweatshirt a lot. He told Grandma & Grandpa Day that he would use his flashlight and compass while camping or riding his bike. He told Scott & Leslie that he would try to save the money they gave him for college. {Melt} He even wrote Jeff & I a thank-you and hid it in one of the kitchen cupboards.
Alec then decided that he wanted to watch the 1st "Indiana Jones" movie. He rummaged through all of the DVD's until he found it & told me that he was going to go get his 3D glasses from "A Christmas Carol" to see if Indiana Jones was in 3D, too. {Melt} I didn't stop him. His sisters would have. But they weren't home, were they!?!
I don't know what I did to deserve such a sweet & kind boy like Alec, but I'll take it. He has a special place in my heart, like all of my kids do, but his spot is just for him. Love you, buddy.

Awww.. I needed a tissue after that for sure! Alec is such a sweetheart!!
cute. What a sweet kid. You're lucky to have him and good for you to take the time to savor (and write down) the little moments when they happen.
I find myself actually enjoying some of those "sick" days with my kids too...unless the sick involves puke and then it's another story.
We love Alec too!! I will always remember that chubby baby with the big smiles and his "egg tooth"!! He is really growing up to be such a great kid!!
