Every year we make an annual trip to Frankenmuth. If you're not familiar with Frankenmuth, it's a little German town about an hour north of us. On this one day excursion, we do exactly the same thing we did the year before, the year before that, and that year before that, etc. First, we arrive around 1:00 pm and go straight to Zehnder's for their world-famous chicken dinner.

After we are sufficiently stuffed with chicken noodle soup, cheese & crackers, cottage cheese, liverwurst - only for those with a stomach of steel, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, buttered noodles, squash, and cranberry sauce (a carb lover's dream), we get bundled up and walk up and down main street and window shop.

We always buy fudge at the same fudge shop. The kids like to watch them make it. It's quite a hypnotic experience. Especially after all that chicken.

After window shopping, we go on a carriage ride that takes us through all the little streets in Frankenmuth. My favorite part is getting cozy under the blankets.

The last stop on our trip is always Bronner's - the world's largest Christmas store. The store is 7.35 acres-huge and is filled with thousands of Christmas decorations. I always get a new creche or add to an old one. Jeff loves that part.

This year Alec made a new friend outside of Bronner's. They were about the same height, had the same facial expressions, but Alec really wanted a pair of green tights, just like his...oh, and some facial hair, too.

McKenna Schultz dressed as a gnome for Halloween a year or two ago. She did her own costume and it was very clever. Maybe Alec would enjoy that idea.
that last pic of Alec cracks me up!! What a little ham! Looks like a fun day...pass the chicken, please! :)
I love Frankenmuth! So much fun to make it a tradition every year!
