Alec's Day

To say that Alec was excited for this day would be an understatement. He could hardly wait, and when we finally arrived at the church Sunday night he was glowing. The only glitch the whole night was that he had to wear this Elvis jumpsuit, but he sported it well!

Both of his Grandpa's spoke, Leslie played the piano, Grammy led the music, Grandma Day & Uncle Scott gave the prayers, and Uncle Ben & Uncle Mark were the witnesses. The kids also sang, "My Heavenly Father Loves Me." Alec was right in front of the microphone & it was so cute to hear him sing his little heart out.

After Jeff lifted Alec's head out of the water, Alec yelled out "Whoo Hooo!" and literally skipped up the steps.

Jeff blessed Alec during his confirmation that he would be a great missionary and that he wouldn't have to wait until he served a full-time mission to do so. The next morning, Alec woke up & asked me if he could bring his new scriptures to school for sharing time. At first, I told him it wasn't a good idea - they could get lost or ruined. But Alec insisted that he wanted to bring them, so I let him. He said that he took them out of his backpack and set them on his desk. Of course, all the kids in his class were curious as to what was in the black bag labeled "CTR" on the front, and he just told them all that it was a surprise and that they would have to wait until the end of the day for sharing time (he's only 8 & already knows how to lure in his audience!!). So, share them he did. He told his class what CTR meant, pulled out his scriptures and told everyone that they were about Heavenly Father and Jesus. It probably wasn't politically correct that he got to share those with his class, but we are so proud of him & his desire to do so. He didn't care what anyone thought. He only cared about sharing something that was meaningful to him with his friends.

Way to go, Alec! You will go far in this life & accomplish many great things. We love you & are grateful for the example you are to us.
