Amy and Alec were driving home during the storm and really struggled getting home. At one point, they couldn't proceed any further in our neighborhood because they couldn't see. Amy pulled to the side of the road and asked Alec to say a prayer that they would be safe and able to get home. They weren't fully aware of all the warnings (tornado, thunder, etc.). Amy said that Alec, at the end of his prayer, asked that the storm/rain would stop. As soon as he said, "Amen," they storm cleared. And in a matter of minutes...we saw them coming through the water into our driveway. Heavenly Father answers our little Alec's prayers!

HUGE STORM in Commerce Twp!
Wow -- we just got major dumped on. Tornado warning, sirens and all! Here's a quick picture of the front yard and yes, that's a river in our street.

Our river in back was up higher than we have ever seen it ! The ducks were trying to ride it out at first as they went swishing past their usual "get off" spot at the bottom of our slope. i could almost hear them saying : "Stop ! Stop ! You're passing my stop !" And green ... you all remember tornado green, don't you ? Heard Jerry Hodak say 5" of rain in an hour in some places. Tornadoes touch down in Howell, Fenton, and Hazel Park. We were warned, too, but like a couple of doofusses stood at the front door and watched the sheets of rain. Tigers resumed their game at 11:30 !
Ben, Braeden and I were driving during the worst of it too, completely unaware of the warnings and such! When we got home, there was a strange minivan in our driveway...when we pulled in, a family with 4 kids jumped out and said..."can we come into your house during the storm?! We don't want to keep driving it it (turned out they had one of the neighbor boys in their car...his mom and dad weren't home, and the little boy said they could stop at our house) So while we were a little skeptical at first, of course we let them all come in and wait out the storm. Turns out they were really nice people and we had a great conversation in the safety of our basement!! :)
