Ahhhhh, four years. They grow up so fast.
And she's had her birthday on the calendar hanging in the kitchen for weeks.
In fact, when we got home from church today the first thing Hannah did was ask what I had gotten for Libby's present. Not a thing! So she got to work and made Libby a new toy: old socks wrapped around tennis balls and secured with rubber bands. Libby loved it!
Next, she put together a birthday treat:
Dog biscuits beautifully placed & presented with peanut butter, sprinkled with kibble.
YUM!
Hannah even lit a candle & had us sing to her.
which (according to the party planner) meant that Libby thought she was doing something wrong.
Of course she did! Eating people food, out of people bowls.
She knows better.
But that didn't stop her.
And I didn't stop her either.
That's because she's got a lot of work to do each day:
barking at all the cars, dogs and people passing by.
Catching every piece of food that falls from the counter & table.
Shaking and shedding, making sure to cover all the wood floors and her favorite chair
sufficiently with her dog hair.
It's a tough job...so I let her break the rules & enjoy her birthday treat.
For just a day, anyway!

Which reminds me ... did Hannah send in her pictures of Libby for that contest ?
If the dog won something maybe it would justify the hair and barking and begging and jumping. I
That's hilarious that she was all lapping it up as quickly as she could keeping one eye on you guys and one eye on the food bowl before she got in trouble. That dog!! I'm impressed you guys have done it this long!! Happy bday to Libby--turning the Day's into dog people for 4 years straight!!
