Today I am thankful for Alec...
He became my first-born son exactly 12 years ago today.
I've loved him from the minute I laid eyes on him.
He was solid, easy, beautiful, and he was mine!
He hasn't changed much since then -
He's still easy to please and easy-going.
He is solid - not just physically but I can always count on him.
He is beautiful! I love his smile and his gentle ways.
And, of course, he's still mine!
Even though he won't admit it when I try to get a kiss. :)
Today I had lunch duty at the middle school
so I brought donuts for Alec's lunch table.
Let's just say that he has some pretty awesome friends -
and now that I've bribed them w/donuts - they like him even more!!
We had a quiet night at home - his "friend" party is on Saturday.
For dinner, I whipped up his request -
Lemon Chicken Rice Soup in bread bowls.
The cake? He wanted a Baskin Robbins Oreo ice cream cake.
Easy. and . done!
Jeff is out-of-town, Grammy had PTC's at school,
and Grandma & Grandpa Day are coming on Sunday...
so we had Papa and Scott, Leslie & gang over for cake and ice cream.
We had a great night...
until there was a piece missing from Alec's new Lego Millenium Force set.
He was NOT HAPPY about that.
To make matters worse,
he dropped his cake on his way to the kitchen...
but it was thankfully still mostly in one piece
and it didn't effect at all how it tasted!
He also felt much better after Uncle Scott burst
into song..."For he's a jolly good fellow"!!
That put a smile back on his face.
So here's to Alec!! -
my boy who is now a dozen-years-young
AND who survived a birthday full of unexpected twists & turns.
He's the man and I'm so thankful for him. :)

Happy #12 to Ali!! What a fun year ahead with the Deacons!! We love you to pieces; especially your awesome smile. When you smile, the whole room smiles back!
PS- Can I get a copy of your Lemon Chicken Rice soup recipe?? PLEASE???
He's starting to look like what he's gonna look like now.
We love his company. He is always so considerate of us.
We can hardly wait for his ordination and hope a good Dcn's Quorum Pres. has given him the map for Sac. passing ease !
