a happy heart moment.

Do you ever have a moment where everything seems right in the world?
A happy heart moment?

I've had several throughout my life...
  • The day my mom sat down to color with me at my little table in the playroom when I was only 5.
  • The day I was brand-new at church, after moving across the country when I was 14, and I unexpectedly made a new friend who accepted me right away.
  • The day the greatest man in the world took me to the temple & I couldn't wait to spend the rest of my life and eternity with him!
  • The day each of our children were born - the moment you look into your new baby's eyes and it just seems right.
  • Peeking out the window & watching my children play outside together. Hearing their squeals of delight...heaven to me!

On Friday morning, Ian woke up not wanting to go to school.
He was grumpy and what made it worse was that Alec was sick and got to stay home!
Before we left for the bus stop,
Jeff suggested to him that they go sledding together after school.
Ian's eyes lit up and he thought that was a great idea!
His mood turned around immediately and he left for school with
a smile on his face.

When Ian returned home Friday afternoon,
Jeff was still working so Ian sled with the neighbor boys
on the hill in our backyard.
He was having a great time but kept peeking his head inside to ask
when Dad was coming out.
By the time it got dark, Jeff finally had finished working
and it was too late to sled together.

Ian's disappointment set in but Jeff promised him that 1st thing Saturday morning
they would hit the slopes!
...the first words that came out of Ian's mouth in the morning were,
"Where is Dad?"
and by 9:00 they were sledding on our hill,
using their sleds as shields for their snowball fight,
and Ian even rode on Jeff's back for a few of their runs.

Listening to him recount his morning with Dad,
it was definitely a happy heart moment for me.

And probably one of many that Ian will have in his life, too.
What are your happy heart moments?

awww....

Love those moments. They kind of make me catch my breath when they happen. I think both Jeff & Ian have a little snapshot of that day imprinted in their hearts too!!
