A Date.

Here was my date for the day.
My oldest boy & me. At the symphony.
In Ann Arbor. With the rest of the 4th grade.

Our date began with a police escort,
then continued with a bus ride, bagged lunches, and Student-of-the-Week pictures.

The police escort was BEFORE I got to the school. I was late AND speeding,
when I whizzed past an Oakland Country Sheriff.
He turned around and followed me 2 miles to the school.
As I turned into the school, he turned into the school.
As I parked, he parked. Right next to me.

He rolled down his window as I got out of the suburban and informed me that I was
going 60 in a 45 zone. A quick "sorry" and an explanation of my
reason for speeding got me off with a warning. Phew!

Good thing his lights never went on
AND that no one at the school saw me...hopefully!

Can you imagine how popular Alec would be after his mother
got a speeding ticket in the school parking lot?
In front of 3 buses packed with his friends & teachers???

Anyway... because I was late, I was on a different bus than Alec.
After I found my seat, I realized that I was surrounded by several girls
who knew exactly who I was and ended up following me around all day!

One of the girls
informed me that Alec bought her lunch last week
when her food account ran out of money.
That's my boy! Everybody's "Sugar Daddy".

Here we are at Hill Auditorium. A beautiful theater that I remember going
to as a little girl. I even played my violin on that very stage with the Ann Arbor
All-City Orchestra.

Alec & Kameron decided to dress-up for the occasion.
Very handsome!

We enjoyed the concert, ate our sack lunches on the way home
(we got to sit together this time),
and when we got back to the school I snapped a few shots of Alec
at his special "Student-of-the-Week" desk.

("So, Ian, to get the ladies you must first buy them lunch
and then dazzle them with a suit coat and tie.")
