What's in your Costco cart?

I'll be the first to admit that I love going to Costco to search the aisles for something new, tasty and unique. Especially something that I know my kids will try! Here's a couple of "finds" that I just love and have become part of my "gotta haves" in our pantry.

1. Kashi Mountain Medley Granola - Jeff and I LOVE this! Now I'm not really a Kashi fan, but this stuff is yummy. It's good with milk, yogurt, and Ian even likes it plain. It has almonds, pecans, dried cranberries and lots of other little goodies. If I eat this for breakfast, I'm not hungry until 2:00.

2. Milton's Multi-Grain Bread - This bread is so tasty and good for you too. It is low in fat and has 4 grams of fiber per piece! It is packed with vitamin B-6, B-12, folate, zinc, B-somethin' somethin' and lots of other stuff I can't pronounce. The best thing about it that it is so moist and doesn't dry out. It comes as 1 longer loaf, not 2, and my kids love it toasted.

3. General Mills Fiber One Bars - Okay, so this is a glorified candy bar, but I don't feel guilty eating it...it has 9 grams of fiber per serving. It is a chewier variety of granola bars and the first time I tried one it reminded me of a rice crispy treat. It is drizzled with chocolate and the oats are held together tightly with something that reminded me of honey. Anyway, stay away if you have a peanut allergy, but these babies are deelish!

4. Lehi Roller Mills Whole Wheat Pancake Mix - About a month ago I was just roaming around Costco minding my own business when I looked up and saw a sign just like this over by the laundry detergent. I had visions of I-15 and Footloose as I headed over to their stand. I was greeted by a very friendly representative and his wife (Utah accents and all) and struck up a conversation with him while his wife was whippin' out tiny little pancakes on her electric fry-pan. After one-too-many samples, I learned that this whole wheat pancake mix was a new product of theirs and was developed at good 'ole BYU. I bought enough to boxes to sustain us through the millennium.

The first morning my family tried them they were skeptical. "Are these different pancakes?" they asked. I just kept my mouth shut and let them keep eating. Anyhow, they all seemed to like them just as much as Krusteaz. They are a heavier pancake, but not gritty like most whole wheat ones are. They are really tasty with strawberries on top!

5. Brownie Bites - These are not in my Costco shopping cart...unless I've had a really bad day and I just need to have some chocolate and forget it all ever happened. After I've had about 10, I mean 2 or so, I'll eat some of that bread with the fiber in it to make me feel better.

So, what's in your Costco cart?

Just went yesterday and bought that hermetically sealed plastic box of the very yummy Compari tomatoes, a rotissorie (sp!) chicken, and alcohol wipes. They were out of Stacey's pita chips ... ;0(, and I could not justify the Blue Crab spread, so I just went by the tasting table three times !

You girls are filling out my grocery list for the week. I guess I'll be making a pit-stop on the way home tonight or tomorrow. It all sounds delish.

I also usually get a lot of our meat there...hamburger, pork loins, fish, roasts, etc. and I love the Fiber 1 bars!!

This is so funny. I was just about to post a Costco post on my blog, too. Our new one opened yesterday. Haven't had much luck with Kashi stuff, but I may try your cereal. Love the Fiber One Bars - 9 grams of fiber is awesome.

Here's what's on my list:

*I second Linda on the Rotisserie Chicken
*Uncooked tortillas
*Milk (unless it's on sale somewhere)
*Hamburger buns
*Cheese (Tillamook - yummm) and Shredded mexican blend

Kids are home for summer. Here's what they'd like (although they won't get)
*Big box of Ice Cream bars, etc.
*Muffins
*Croissants
*Fruit by the Foot
*Sheet cake
*Brownie bites

Do you think my kids have a sugar problem?

so I already had a trip planned to Costco last night and after I read your post, I added the Miltons bread and Granola to my list....YUMMY! I had the Granola for Breakfast (I'm not usually a Kashi fan either...but this was awesome mixed w/ yogurt) and made a sandwich with the bread for lunch! I think I got my fiber for the day...wouldn't you say?! :)

I LOVE Costco!! :)

Had to ditto Marianne's Tillamook cheese slices in the
"cheese box" by the ready-to-go pizzas. Jeff Norman will love these on his bar-b-qued burgers.
