The Morning Breaks in Detroit -- Dedication of the Belle Isle Branch Building in Detroit!

All -- not the best photos or my best video work, however, it captures the spirit of what transpired last Sunday on the 30th anniversary of the revelation to the Prophet Spencer W. Kimball on the extension of the blessings of the priesthood to all worth males on earth! It has been 80 years since a LDS chapel has been built by the church in Detroit!

It was a beautiful day in Detroit. What struck me in the dedication prayer was when President Lantz blessed the very steeple that it would be a symbol of hope and of the restored gospel to those who see it. If you've ever seen the DC, San Diego, or Oakland temples ~ you know exactly what this means. It absolutely stands out in an area that so desperately needs it. Mario and I had a chance to attend and it was a spiritual feast! The members were so excited to really feel apart of this world-wide church!

Enjoy the video!

Such a treat for us to see this, Jeff ! When Dad was serving w/Pres' Livingstone and Robison the Belle Isle Branch was meeting in a converted bldg. next to the Post Office parking lot for the Postal Delivery trucks. We became very close to some of the members of the Branch including the Bills family. Pres. Solomon Bills was in the District Pres. at that time. At the down-sizing of the District, he was released and served as the Branch Pres. once again. He was a sharp single guy so all the single women in the District were hot on his trail. Loved his Mother and Sister. You don't want to argue New Testament with them !

Our Stake takes pride in the bldg. of the Detroit River Branch which is predominently Hispanic and growing at a record rate.

Hopefully this is the start of a great turn around for the city of Detroit. I hope it is like a lighthouse beacon in the dark.

Wow! So where is the building exactly? Is in on Belle Isle?
Will this combine all the Detroit branches?? (wow, I have a lot of questions!)

It is truly awesome!
