I have finally reached this dreaded age
and, surprisingly, I didn't feel any different when I woke up on Tuesday morning.
The same wrinkles & bulges were all still intact,
with no new ones to greet me in the mirror.
The night before my "real" birthday,
we ate a delicious Italian spread at Bucca di Beppo with the whole family.
We ate at their biggest table in the "Pope Room."
Jeff was so kind and got me "Princess" balloons and a princess crown
to go with them. He didn't think I'd appreciate the "Over the Hill" ones.
He was right!
{The highlight of the evening: watching Alyssa & the Pope
spin around on the lazy susan!!}
On my "real" day,
I met some friends for lunch at Red Robin
and we did what we do best - eat & chat.
After lunch,
Riley & I went to Old Navy and then to DSW to shoe shop.
She talked me into some cute sandal-pumps.
They made me feel younger (and my legs look longer) so I bought 'em!
We ended the afternoon with a cone from McDonald's.
It was a perfect 2 days.
And now I'm ready to conquer my 40's!
Watch out world!!

What a fun birthday...sounds like a smooth transition to me!! You know Oprah says life doesn't start getting really good until your forties...I'm thinking forty is fabulous!! Live it up!!
Thanks for the inclusion at the Buca. It is not my fav Italian food, but it is my fav Italian place because we go there w/such wunnerful people ... not inc. the Pope ! I hate the way he stares at my plate which is entirely too full of pasta goodness !
And, I personally think you are "aging very gracefully" !
Yipee for 40 and yes you will always be younger than me (and Jeff, too, so that's a good thing!).
