It took us 2 days of driving
(with an over night stop in Oak Ridge, Tennesee -
home of Little Debbie Snack Cakes!),
but we finally made it to Sanibel Island!
We woke up the first morning and headed straight to the beach.
The Gulf of Mexico was beautiful
and the kids splashed in the waves and did their fair share of "shelling".

Jeff and Alec tried out the waves....

(this is as close to body boarding that Ian got)
And we applied lots & lots of sunscreen.
We headed over to the pool a few hours later...
And kept a close eye on the kids while they swam.
Later, we cleaned up and went out to dinner...seafood, of course!
Then to Putt Putt Golf, complete with a gator feeding area.
More on the gators later. Seriously, Florida is infested with 'em.
We learned that they are EVERYWHERE.
If there's freshwater, there's an alligator.
We were given poles with a bobby pin on the end of them
and gator food to attach to the bobby pin.
The gator food looked like fake little pieces of meat
and something I didn't know existed until this trip!

This was a great course...
Hannah, Alec and I all got 2 holes in one!

Riley's face is my thoughts exactly ! Ee-yoo !
Love the beach. That's where you could have dropped me off, and picked me back up on the way home ... ;)
I just love saying "Sanibel Island" and I will forget that there could be gators lurking around every corner. The beach looks heavenly!
Can't wait to see the rest!
Lest you get burned like Avery Jane...apply lots and lots of sunscreen!! Guess you didn't see Soul Surfer before you went body surfing in the ocean...eek!!
Suz - The hotel told us to get outta the water by 5 pm because that was "feeding time" for the sharks!
