The "BIRD" passes on!
A sad day to day in Detroit. Mark "the Bird" Fydrich passed away today. As they have said, he was Mr. 1976! That was a great baseball year for me ;-). I have great memories of going with Dad to Tiger Stadium to him pitch and Ron ReFlor and Willie Horton bat in old Tiger Stadium.

Dad reminds me of his last day on the mound as a Tiger at the old Tiger Stadium. He walked out, pulled a baggie from his pocket, and reached down, picked up some dirt and put it in the baggie, and replaced it in his pocket. Touching !
He was a one of a kind, likeable kid, who brought alot of fans down to Trumball.
Wonder what was the cause of his death ?
