Homemade Ice Cream in a Bag
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 T sugar
3 cups ice
1/4 cup rock salt
Mix milk, vanilla, and sugar in a sandwich-sized ziploc bag. Carefully seal the bag. Fill a gallon-sized ziploc bag with ice and rock salt. Put the smaller bag inside the larger bag and seal. Shake the bag for 6-7 minutes. Check to see if the ingredients turned into ice cream. Warning: if you shake too long, it will start to melt again!!

Very cute new banner !!!
Very cool idea !!!
How did you manage to keep that much ice (Stake Picnic) from melting ???
Linda - lots of coolers and we worked fast!
However, if we do it again next year, I'll do it differently. We premixed all the small bags of ingredients the night before, so that at the picnic all people had to do was grab one of those and a bag of salt/ice. But, all of the transporting from the fridge, to the coolers, to downtown Detroit caused the bags to leak and we had a mess!
It still worked, but next time I'll just have all of the ingredients on a table and people can prepare the bags themselves! Live and learn.
You mean I can get my nightly ice cream fix from the comfort of my couch? Sweet!
Also I love your new banner too!
love, LOVE the new banner and layout!! Very cute! I love the ice-cream idea...will try! :)
Hey that's not too bad for you either because unlike my ice cream recipe, it doesn't have heavy cream!
Love the new banner too! So cute.
