Jeff and I spent the weekend up in Harbor Springs (up North) attending a BYU Alumni Retreat. The purpose of the retreat was to raise money for the very first "Replenishment Grant" that will be available for a Michigan member of the church to attend Brigham Young. It is called a replenishment grant because it is expected that, after the student graduates, they pay it back to the same fund for another student from Michigan to use.
We attended with 7 other couples (most from the Bloomfield Hills Ward) and we all stayed at Buddy & Tina Stoddard's summer cottage, right on Lake Michigan. It was just beautiful and we had a lot of fun. Dr. Ken Matheson, a BYU religion professor & marriage and family counselor, came with his wife and hosted a workshop called "How to Make a Good Marriage Better." We learned a lot and Jeff & I decided we would stay together after all :)!

We took a scary picture of ourselves (note above picture), ate lots of yummy food, enjoyed the views of the lake out our bedroom window, made some new friends, walked along the beach, and even got to visit with Marti and Ed before we headed home Saturday night.
Here are some pics of where we stayed.....maybe after we make our first million we'll get one of our own someday.....I'll just keep dreaming.

The Romney's also used to have a "cottage" up there as well. I think Erin and her YSA pals went there once. It was just a little "getaway" on the Lake with rooms for 30 or some incredible #. Such is the life !
