Clap-Outs & Waterballoons...with a few tears.

On Friday morning, the boys packed these goodies for their teachers into their 

backpacks and headed out the door with me for their last day of school.

This would be our last walk together with my 2 boys to the elementary school bus stop...

Alec is moving onto middle school next year.  

I know, we're all getting old!

They were all decked out for field day -

fifth graders in red and second graders in orange.

Meanwhile, the girls were finishing the last of their final exams

and got home early enough to fill a whole laundry basket full

of water balloons for when the boys got home.
They were in GOOD moods...no more homework!!

But before the bus pulled up,

Jeff, the girls, and I went to Country Oaks to "Clap Out"

the fifth graders.  This is basically where the whole school - students, teachers, administrators,

and parents - line the halls and give all of the fifth graders

a round of applause as they walk the school halls one last time.

The girls & Jeff didn't understand why this makes me cry EVERY TIME

I've had to "Clap Out" one of our kids.  

But is does.

Even Alec was a bit teary...

 But those tears were quickly turned to happy shrills as they hopped off the bus
and ran home to find the much-anticipated basket of waterballoons...
