The Iceberg, harmonicas, & Sing-Alongs

We couldn't go to Utah and not hit a Triple-D establishment.
So my Dad, Jeff and I decided to get a shake
at the Iceberg in downtown SLC.
In my Dad's opinion, there is nothing better than a chocolate shake.
And he always gets extra-chocolate syrup.

These things were HUGE!

Let me remind you...
this man has no colon. Ha ha!

I only ate the top off mine.

We also spent a lot of time with Pop-Pop
at the Atria - the assisted living place he lives in.

He is like the "big-man-on-campus" there -
Everyone knows Mike Michels.
He's even what they call an "ambassador".
Which means he answers questions new folks might have,
he gives tours, and he is just friendly to everyone.

He even wears a pin so you know he's an ambassador -
kinda like a missionary tag.
Jeff & Scott had fun walking down the halls saying,
"Make way for the ambassador!!!"

The Ambassador played his harmonica for us.
And even performed a duet with Jeff.

On Thursday nights,
The Ambassador LOVES to go to the Sing-A-Long
where all the residents sing the "oldies".

We were there on a Thursday so we all joined him.
And I mean ALL of us.
He had a group of about 20 members of his family with him
and he was so proud as we all introduced ourselves
to the singing-crew!

Here we are sitting on the side.
Uncle Steve was hilarious to sit by.
We were saying that each generation will have their own songs
to sing at the Atria someday.

My sing-along night will include hits like
"Thriller", "Every Rose Has It's Thorn",
and "You're the Inspiration" by Chicago.
Hee, hee.

Your Grand-dad looks more and more like Ike as he ages. Loving that he has "taken up" the harmonica. We used to have a custodian in the Livonia Ward named John Grist who played the harmonica. Ryan took lessons from him at one time so he would have a musical instrument to take on his mission.

My contributions to the Atria sing-alongs would be the Elvis tunes, Pat Boone, Patti Paige, etc ... some you might know well enough to hum.

Those shakes are HUUUGE!! My favorite photo is Mario's expression looking at it, with your caption. Oh dear!!

I am not surprised at all that Pop Pop is such a central presence at the center! I can just picture the family sing-along & hilarity. My group will be singing Green Day, Indigo Girls, and Alphaville's Forever Young. 90's forever!!
