This picture is the end result of our trip downtown yesterday afternoon to spend some quality family time ice skating at the Campus Martius ice arena. If only we would have heeded Jeff's counsel and left 5 minutes earlier, it never would have happened. We gave into "One more time around, PLEASE!" and the next thing we knew, Hannah was in a heap on the ice holding her right wrist crying. Poor thing. It seems that she has the most brittle bones of all the kids (she broke her left hand in the summer of '06 at camp). What makes this story even worse is that after we ice skated she went to a birthday party at Bon Adventure to do some ROLLER BLADING! When we got there, she insisted that it felt much better, but Hannah isn't much better at roller blading than she is at ice skating and she fell a couple more times on the same wrist during the party.
We waited until this morning to take her to the ER, thinking maybe it was just sprained, but it was a little swollen when she woke up and it hurt to move it. They x-rayed it and, sure enough, she had a buckle fracture in the bone that goes from her elbow to her wrist. The fracture is right at her wrist. She is a real trooper, though, and she even ventured out into the snow to play with a grocery sack tied around her cast this afternoon. We'll see the orthopedic specialist this week to see if the cast they put on will do (she has plans for a red "christmas-ey" one if not) and we'll also find out how long it will be on...we'll keep you posted!

What a way to spend Christmas vacation ! When she broke the other one, she had to give up swimming for a while, and now her Olympic skating trial must be postponed ! She still managed an awfully cute smile in the midst of pain. Play it for what it's worth, Hannah !
At least she's still smiling!! I thought Alec was the accident-prone one.
Oh no!
It looks like it's not phasing her at all though!!
BUMMER! It made me smile thought to hear that she already has plans for a "cute" cast...what a girl! :)
Bummer!
